10 Ways to Build Confidence and Self-Esteem

Confidence and self-esteem are not something you were born with. Being confident is something that you have to build throughout your life. Self-esteem is also something that you need to feel about yourself. In a nutshell, confidence is how you feel about your abilities and self-esteem is how you feel about yourself or your own image. Building confidence and self-esteem is a long process but you can start now through many tips that you can follow daily! Here are some ways to build your confidence and self-esteem: 

1. Stop Being Too Hard on Yourself 

You might think that you’re not good enough, you’re not doing the right thing…But this voice inside your head tend to lower your confidence and what you feel about yourself. For that reason, you need to be more kind to yourself and stop putting pressure on you. Don’t limit your thinking with negative thoughts. Accept your weaknesses as your “features”. You aren’t good at everything but nobody’s perfect.  

2. Accept Failure 

Accept your past failures to learn from your mistakes and better progress. Regarding your future mistakes, consider them like a means to learn new lessons and grow as a person. Your mistakes are part of your learning. In addition, keep in mind that perfection is an unrealistic goal. Failure is not your enemy! Face your fear to better move forward.  

3. Don’t Compare Yourself  

Stay true to yourself and stop imitate others or others’ success. In other words, stop measuring others’ accomplishments or appearance against yours. You need to build your own image and success. So, focus on your own goals and achievements. Accept yourself for who you are (including all your flaws).

Past issues or drama can keep you trapped in low self-esteem. They can prevent you from accomplishing new goals. That’s why you need to leave those issue in the past and move on. I know it’s easier said than done but the first step is to learn from people who criticize you. But don’t let those criticism define who you are.

Surround yourself with people who want you to succeed. Find people who make you feel good about yourself and stay away from those who tend to trigger your negative thoughts. Moreover, it’s important to hang out with people who support you and inspire you to be and do better. They will also make you become the best version of yourself. 6. Set You New Goals to Achieve 

Keep challenging yourself. More importantly, don’t be afraid to fail. List your accomplishments and set new ones and make them happen. There’s nothing more satisfying than an accomplished goal. Goal setting is a process that starts with careful consideration of what you want to achieve. First, write all the relevant goals that you aspire to achieve. Then, make an action plan by focusing on all the steps that are needed to accomplish your goals and stick with it.

Be fearless! Dare more and trust yourself! Sometimes, staying in your comfort zone won’t allow you to evolve and achieve new goals. Also, decisions made for short-term comfort won’t help you grow and succeed in life. As the saying goes: Nothing ventured, nothing gained! 

8. Don’t Care About What Others Think

Stop paying attention to what people think! Don’t let what others think affect you! The only person you need to listen to, and trust is YOU. You have nothing to prove them. Know your personal boundaries. If someone try to discourage you. Don’t listen to them and keep moving. Then, work in silence, success will make the noise.

Consider being helpful towards other people. It will make help others who also experience low self-esteem, feel better and boost their confidence. Being humble and build your “leadership” is a way to build your own self-esteem and self-respect as well. 

10. Treat Yourself 

Always put yourself first which means take time for yourself! Do what makes you happy. You like doing some shopping, cooking or go to a pedicure spa? Well, go for it! Life is short, you need to live it up! You also do some sport to increase your confidence and motivation. Don’t forget to pamper yourself since when you look your best, you feel your best.
